We are currently looking to recruit research assistants and post doctoral fellows, as well as to train new graduate students.

Postdoc Positions

Two postdoctoral positions are open in the field of Biophysics at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

Position 1: Multiscale Modeling of Molecular Diffusion

This position will focus on applying molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling methods, and other modeling tools on exciting research projects related to drug diffusion. Professor Y. Mindy Huang of the Department of Physics and Astronomy will be the primary mentor, and the projects will closely collaborate with experimentalists. An ideal candidate would have substantial background in molecular modeling. Experience with high performance computing service is a plus. Candidates with experience in or desire to learn machine learning are especially welcome.

Position 2: Membrane Biophysics of Lipid Droplets

This position will focus on the membrane properties (i.e., shape, and tension) involved in lipolysis as part of a collaboration between the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics at Wayne State University. This research includes computational and experimental approaches in the laboratories of Professors Christopher V. Kelly, Y. Mindy Huang, and James G. Granneman. Competitive candidates will bring and develop expertise in fluorescence, molecular dynamics simulations, or cell biology. The specific tasks and mentorship plan for the fellow will be formulated based on their interests and ambitions.

Candidates for either position should send their curriculum vitae, a personal statement, and the contact information for references via email to MembraneRemodeling@groups.wayne.edu. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D., expertise in a related field, and aspirations to increase the breadth and depth of their research in a collaborative project. The exact start date is negotiable.

A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered. The initial appointment will be for 12 months. Additional 12-month extensions will be available based on performance.

Wayne State University is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars. Wayne State University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and a provider of ADA services. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, ethnicity, color, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or identity, national origin, disability status, or protected veteran status.

Graduate Students

The group is recruiting graduate students. All graduate students are welcome to visit our group. Any students with an interest in computational biophysics/chemistry could be a great fit for our lab. With us, students are going to explore many exciting projects and learn various computational tools for molecular modeling.

Prospective graduate students should apply to a graduate program at Wayne State University and are encouraged to apply to the graduate program in the physics department. Feel free to contact the PI if you have any questions.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students could be also outstanding in research! For whom are interested in carrying out undergraduate research, feel free to contact us.

Research Assistants

The research assistants are expected to provide technical support of Linux OS, software installation, and system maintenance. All students or scientists with or without the service experience are encouraged to contact the PI.
